Category Manager (Ingredients)

Salary: £60000 - £65000 per annum
Location: Buckinghamshire

Inside Out Purchasing and Supply has been engaged by our Buckinghamshire based client to recruit for a Category Manager (Ingredients)

Key Accountability:

* Ownership of the allocated purchasing categories.
* Agree the strategy for the portfolio with the locations managed by your group.
* Total cost ownership including - Price negotiation, budget setting and standard cost control.
* Supplier management capability - ensuring the application of suitable behaviours to ensure of the right relationships to bring benefit to the business.
* Selection of contract timings and correct negotiation techniques to ensure sustainable cost advantage.
* Working Capital Improvement - e.g. Support Credit Terms, Consignment Stock
* Risk Management control including - supply chain analysis, contingency contract planning, appropriate contractual terms, CSR coverage,
* Support of key Group initiatives e.g. NPD / unlocking Innovation, sustainability etc
* Ability to work as part of a wider team, providing support on contract issues linked to supplier performance.
* To drive and facilitate "source to contract" for specific categories. This includes the resolution of any contracts related issues.
* To ensure contracts are completed for all relevant agreements and that SLA's (Service Level Agreements) have been agreed with the relevant business owner.
* To own commercial supply base management building strong internal and external business relationships

Applied Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

* Degree level, preferably with membership of CIPS or EU equivalent through qualification.
* Minimum 5 years purchasing experience within the food ingredients industry
* Confident presenter able to create and present a business case that will influence decision makers.
* Sound business knowledge of the finance procedures commonly used within a major food manufacturer.
* Skilled negotiator with the capability to negotiate contracts at all levels.
* Continuous improvement mentality and ability to challenge the status quo.
* Analytical skills with knowledge of contract law within Europe.
* System Capabilities - Microsoft Office Package.
* UK/ EU / Global travel will be required.
